Life in Yuen Long is enriched by cultural and recreational activities held all the year round. Opened in 1970, Yuen Long Town Hall has been providing social welfare and youth activities in Yuen Long. Yuen Long Theatre, completed in 2000, is equipped with the most modernized auditorial rooms and theatres.

The external transport of Yuen Long has been greatly improved after Route 3 and Tai Lam Tunnel were opened in mid 1998. The KCRC West Rail has already come into operation from December 2003, it only takes 20 minutes to travel from Yuen Long to Sham Shui Po.
